Review highlights
Based on 54 reviewsDESI TADKA Indian Restaurant DULUTH is frequently praised for its authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine, featuring standout dishes such as biryani, chicken 65, and various appetizers that offer a satisfying balance of spice and seasoning. The restaurant’s modern and inviting ambiance sets it apart from typical Indian dining spots, contributing positively to the overall experience. Service quality receives mixed feedback; while staff are generally described as friendly and helpful, some guests note inconsistencies in timing and order accuracy, particularly with the sequence of appetizer and drink service. Specialty items and complementary touches, like unique chutneys and freshly made sweets, add to the appeal. Minor operational details, such as the availability of appropriate utensils for certain dishes, have been mentioned as areas for improvement. Overall, DESI TADKA is recognized as a promising and enjoyable option for those seeking traditional Indian flavors in a contemporary setting.
This place is INCREDIBLE! Check out this new building with beautiful atmosphere and the freshest, tastiest Indian food. Our server Aryan was the kindest and helped us pick the most delicious dishes to try for the first time. His prompt service coupled with a joyful demeanor made for an excellent dining experience. Will be back with our families!
Tried this place for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! Ordered chicken 65 spicy which has good smokey flavor. They brought us out some complementary mini simosas with a sauce for dipping which was really good. Different than the regular cilantro chutney. Kinda subtly sweet and well seasoned and a little bit spicy. Very good. I ended up dipping the chicken 65 in it too. I got the chicken kadhai spicy, and garlic naan both with no cilantro. Very good flavor in my dish as well as my husbands vindaloo. Only feedback we have is we do wish the naan was cooked in a tandoor or maybe some other way so it wasn't so flat and doughey. Very much the texture of pita bread compared to somewhere like viceroy where it's crispy with bubbles and has a bit of a crust. Peri Peri fries had nice spice on them but we're for sure undercooked. They accidentally gave ours to another table so I'm assuming the chef was in a rush to get them back out. Nothing some reheating in a air fryer at home won't fix. Otherwise everything else was very good.
Great little spot with authentic food and modern ambiance. Dahi puri was tasty full of different flavor explosions bursting in your mouth. Hyderabadi chicken dum biryani was delicious. Just the right amount or spice and flavor. It was the best tasting item for us. Also, gajar halwa with khoya and butterscotch ice cream was great and worth a try to let the spicy food simmer down. Overall, the dining experience was great and their food is priced very reasonable for the taste and quality they’re offering.
Stopped at Desi Tadka in Duluth (same lot as Cherians) after groceries. Faluda was tasty and staff was friendly, but they really need proper wide faluda straws — regular ones don’t work. Jalebi is made fresh Fridays & Saturdays around noon.
This is a relatively new place or under new management. The ambiance is great as compared to other Indian/Desi restaurant. However, they need to improve their service. The appetizer was served after the main course and I never got my drink. It took them forever ti serve the dessert. The food is good though. Their chicken 555 has a balanced flavor with a kick of spice; and their schzewan vegetable fired rice is delicious. The taste takes you back home. The show stopper is the dessert; I am not a fan of desi dessert but I loved it too. Gulab jamun with ice-cream and gajjar halwa with vanilla ice-cream - a must try.
This was an amazing ending to My daughter and I Self Care Day. Good Food!! The atmosphere was nice, the restaurant was clean, service was friendly. we had the chicken masala and butter chicken while dining in and vegetable and chicken biryani to go. we will definitely be returning !! Thank you for the experience
